We found a nice little hotel in Tegucigalpa where we spent the night. We had a lovely room and the Efter tre dage på børnehjemmet tog vi afsted mod Antigua, for at være på sprogskole i to uger. Torsdag d. 15. marts tog vi bussen fra Guaimaca til Tegucigalpa. Det er en tur på ca. To timer, i en såkaldt ”chicken bus”, altså en gammel amerikansk skolebus. Busbilletten var utrolig billig; L 39, som er ca. 13 kr. Helt andre priser end vi er vant til i Danmark. I bussen mødte vi en rar cubansk mand, som arbejder som missionær læge i Guaimaca. Han var virkelig venlig, og vi fik hans adresse, mail og telefonnummer, hvis vi nogensinde skulle komme til Cuba, så var vi velkomne til at bo hos ham og hans familie. Da vi ankom til Tegucigalpa tog vi ind i et indkøbscenter, hvor vi købte mobiltelefoner, og et mobilt bredbånd. Igen var priserne noget helt andet end hvad vi er vant til. Vi betalte i alt 91 kr for både telefon og taletid. I butikken hvor vi købte telefoner mødte vi en meget sød pige; Emmy, som var så sød til at hjælpe os med det hele. Vi udvekslede også mailadresser og facebook med hende, så vi kan vedligeholde kontakten. Det er rart at have fået nye venner i et fremmedt land. Generelt er folk her i Mellemamerika meget venlige, åbne og gode til at hjælpe.

Vi fandt et hyggeligt lille hotel i Tegucigalpa, hvor vi overnattede. Vi havde et dejligt værelse og damen, som ejede hotellet var så sød; hun kom med vand til os om aftenen, vækkede os kl. 04.00 om morgenen, så vi kom ned til busstationen i tide. For at komme fra Tegucigalpa til Antigua, som ligger i Guatemala skulle vi køre i bus i ca 16 timer. Det var en lang tur, men heldigvis viste de film i bussen – og med engelsk tale, så det var jo perfekt. Når der ikke var film, kunne vi kigge ud af vinduet og nyde den vildt flotte natur. Det er virkelig fantastisk at se noget, der er så meget ulig Danmark.  Efter de 16 timer ankom vi endelig til Antigua, hvor vi blev hentet af vores værtsfamilie; Amanda og Rene. De er fantastisk søde og maden er så lækker!

After three days in the orphanage we went to Antigua to study Spanish at a language school for two weeks. Thursday the 15^th of March we took the bus from Guaimaca to Tegucigalpa. It’s a two hour long trip in a so called “chicken bus” which is an old American school bus. The bus ticket was incredibly cheap; L 39 which is about 13 DKK. Completely different prices than what we are used to in Denmark. In the bus we met a nice Cuban man who works at the medical center in Guaimaca. He was really friendly and we got his address, email and phone number, so if we ever go to Cuba we are welcome to stay with him and his family. When we arrived in Tegucigalpa we went to a mall where we bought cell phones and a mobile internet modem. Once again the prices were completely different than what we are used to. In total we paid 91 DKK for both the phone and the credit. In the store where we bought the phones we met a very nice girl, Emmy, who was so nice and helped us out with everything. We also exchanged emails and Facebook with her, so we can stay in touch. It is nice to have new friends in a strange country. People here in Central America are in general very friendly, open and very helpfullady who owned the hotel was so nice; the brought water to our room in the evening and woke us up at 4 o’clock in the morning so that we would get to the bus station in time. To get from Tegucigalpa to Antigua, which is in Guatemala, we had to go on a 16 hour bus ride. It was a long trip, but luckily they showed movies on the bus. When they didn’t show movies we could look out the window and look at the beautiful nature. It is truly fantastic to see something so unlike Denmark. After the 16 hours we finally arrived in Antigua where our host family; Amanda and Rene picked us up. They are incredibly nice and the food is amazing!
