Casa de Keibi

Torsdag d. 12. juli havde vi det sidste mini projekt med partnerskabskonferencen. Vi tog ned til en dame, som hedder Keibi. Hun bor i Guaimaca og arbejder som nat dame på Emmanuel. Gulvet i hendes stue var begyndt at falde sammen, da der løb masser af vand ind i regntiden. Planen var dermed at lægge et nyt og bedre gulv i stuen, samt at lave en rende til regnvandet. Hendes ”terrasse” blev hævet og der blev lagt et fint nyt tag henover. Derudover blev hendes have ryddet op og rengjort, og en stykke af haven blev gjort helt plan, så hun kunne bygge et lille hus dér til udlejning, så hun kan få en ekstra indtægt.

Endnu en gang fik vi at se, hvor hårdt vores unge kan arbejde. De knokler virkelig, og der er ikke en eneste, som brokker sig, og alt arbejdet bliver gjort med et smil på læben. Alle hjælper med lige dét han eller hun kan, og de er smadder gode til at opmuntre hinanden.

Vi fik hjælp fra en lokal håndværker og hans mænd. Det var en rigtig god hjælp, for de var så gode til at instruere de unge i hvordan arbejdes skal gøres, i stedet for bare at tage over.

 Thursday the 12^th of July we had our last mini project with the partnership conference. We went down to a woman called Keibi. She lives in Guaimca and works as a night lady here at Emmanuel. The floor in her living room had begun to sink because of the big amount of rainwater, that ran into the house during the rain season. So the plan was to give her a new and better living room floor and make a gutter in the front of the house. The terrace in the back yard was raised at over it was put a new roof. Besides that we cleaned her back yard and we made room in the yard so that she can build a tiny house that she cant rent out and thereby get an extra income.

Once again we saw how hard workers our youth are. No one complains and everyone has a smile on his or her face while working. The youth help with whatever he or she can and they are really good at encouraging each other.

We had help from a local worker and some of his men. They were a great help and instead of just taking over the work that had to be done they showed the youth how to do it and then let them do it!
